Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office LINO will chair IGLO network in Brussels

 

Lithuanian Research Development and Innovation Liaison Office in Brussels (LINO) was elected to chair the Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices (IGLO) – informal association of Brussels-based non-profit Research & Development Liaison Offices – for one year starting from July 2018.

 

Dr. Brigita Serafinavičiūtė, the head of LINO Office: “Lithuania was accepted as IGLO member only one year ago and taking over this role in the network is as big recognition given to us by our IGLO colleagues. This new responsibility for LINO Office goes in line with our aims increasing awareness about Lithuanian researchers and their achievements, promoting and enabling international partnerships”.

 

The responsibilities of IGLO chair embraces the tasks of coordinating network activities, organizing and leading monthly meetings of the heads of the offices, ensuring information dissemination within the network, as well as representing the network.

 

The aim of IGLO is to facilitate and enhance the interaction, information exchange and co-operation between members of IGLO, their national research systems and the European institutions on issues related to EU RTD, in particular, the Framework Programme. IGLO members also work together through regular meetings of IGLO, to exchange information, to debate new developments with key contacts and to promote collaboration and the sharing of best practice. IGLO also aims to act as a platform to bring together research, innovation and higher education policy makers and managers from across Europe.

 

Today IGLO network is comprised of 29 Liaison Offices from 27 European Union and associated countries. Lithuania got the opportunity to be involved in this organization, which is active and recognized by European Commission representatives, only after the establishment of LINO Office. LINO Office was accepted as IGLO member on June 7, 2017.

The Lithuanian Research Development and Innovation Liaison Office in Brussels (LINO) is part of the Research Council of Lithuania. The main aim of the LINO Office is to strengthen European research cooperation facilitating the successful integration of Lithuanian researchers into international research projects and to monitor, analyse and report on developments in EU research and innovation policy.
