IGLO Open: How do clusters connect ecosystems and boost innovation across Europe? Lessons learnt from EU cluster policy

We cordially invite you to IGLO Open event, which will be held on  March 5th 11:30-13:00, at the premises of the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU.

Dr. Ulla Engelmann, Head of Unit for Advanced Technologies, Clusters and Social Economy at the European Commission (DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) will deliver an overview on the European Cluster Policy, with a particular focus on using clusters to support European SMEs. A special attention will be dedicated on the cooperation between cluster organizations and research/technology centers. In her presentation Dr. Engelmann will concentrate not only on the ongoing cluster initiatives dedicated to challenging innovation to European SMEs via cross-sectoral, cross-regional and international cooperation but also she will explain what to expect from the future European Joint Cluster Initiatives post-2020.

In this context, Dr. Engelmann will present the highlights of the #EUClusterWeeks, an awareness-raising campaign across Europe on the role of clusters and the results they achieve for supporting SME growths, industrial transformation and regional economic development. The results of the EU Cluster Week will feature at the European Cluster Conference “Connecting Ecosystems: Bridge. Inspire. Change”, organized under Romanian EU Presidency 14-16 May in Bucharest, where 400 participants across Europe will share their experience, co-design to inspire the future of European Cluster Initiatives getting ready for post 2020.
