Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office LINO would like to invite you to the event “European Reference Networks – current achievements and future perspectives”. The event will take place at Lithuanian Permanent Representation to the EU (Rue Belliard 41-43, Brussels 1000) on December 11th. 15:00-16:00.

European Reference Networks (ERN) are virtual networks involving healthcare providers across Europe with the aim to share knowledge, expertise and resources and to improve diagnostics and treatment of rare disease patients. Currently, ERNs join more than 900 highly specialized healthcare units into 24 networks. This novel concept in healthcare of EU citizens arises from Directive 2011/24/EU on the application of patient’s rights in cross-border healthcare.

Concetta Cultrera, Deputy Head of Unit, Cross-border healthcare and eHealth, DG SANTE and dr. Birutė Tumienė, Lithuanian Representative at ERN Board of Member States and a Chair of Working Group on ERN integration into national systems, will give an overview on European Reference Networks. The main aim of this meeting is to discuss current achievements and future perspectives of ERNs and the role of Member States in fulfilling ERN’s potential.
