Lithuanian University of Health Sciences was selected as EIT HEALTH Hub in Lithuania

Great news from Kaunas: HEALTH community (EIT HEALTH) of The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) chose the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) as the Healthcare Innovation Coordinator in Lithuania (EIT HEALTH HUB). The application was submitted in cooperation with Kaunas University of Technology, and supported by various public and private sector institutions.

EIT HEALTH is one of the largest communities in the field of healthcare innovation in the world. There are more than 130 organizations based in different countries at EIT HEALTH. Science and education institutions, healthcare institutions, businesses and other public and private sector representatives are working together to develop healthcare improvement solutions that fully contribute to a healthier life and people’s well-being in Europe.

One of the main goals of EIT HEALTH is to invest in promising students, researchers and other researchers who develop commercially-promising products or services adapted to the health system. Highly evaluated innovation, partly contributing to the challenges posed by demographic and aging society.

EIT Health seeks to address three key challenges by working to:

  • Promote healthy living, by increasing awareness of good habits and encouraging changes in our behaviour.
  • Support active ageing, by developing tools to help all of us work more flexibly and live longer in our own homes.
  • Improve healthcare, through innovations that empower patients.

Lithuanian University of Health Sciences encourages students, researchers and other researchers to take advantage of EIT HEALTH’s opportunities for financing and developing ideas, networking and other activities. The aim is to make healthcare innovations made in Lithuania become known internationally and attract foreign investment to develop them.
